It lives in a tolex covered wood box with heavy duty (and now kinda rusty) hardware, measuring about 8" x 10" x 13".CONN STROBO TUNER ST-11 The one the pro's use.Vintage STROBOTUNER. This was the 'second generation' of PETERSON TUNERS ever built, made between roughly 19 before/during the time when Peterson was also expanding its product lines to include (then sorta specialize in, in addition to tuning devices) electronic control systems and components for organs, which remains lots of their current business to this day. It does not "listen to" an incoming sound source in any fashion, but only generates a very precisely controlled sound/note/frequency via the speaker on its front panel or an external one plugged into it - the person doing the actual "tuning" then adjusts the appropriate organ pipe/part to match that tone. As it happens, the most practical (thus overall satisfactory) way to do that is indeed "by ear" (instead of "by graph") in most cases - thus this thing has no visual display at all, essentially just being a precise 'tone generator' instead. This machine is rather unlike my old strobe tuner units, in that it was specifically designed to help tune organs (whether authentic pipe organs or their electronic imitations) instead of any odd other kind of musical instrument.
